Re:wild protects and restores the diversity of life on Earth through innovative collaborations among individuals, communities, Indigenous peoples, governments, scientists, and businesses to drive the most pressing nature-based solutions to our planet’s urgent crises. Radical change requires radical collaboration.
Our story begins at the intersection of science and collaboration.
Re:wild launched in 2021 combining more than three decades of conservation impact by Leonardo DiCaprio and Global Wildlife Conservation, leveraging expertise, partnerships and platforms to bring new attention, energy and voices together. Collectively with our partners in more than 50 countries, in 2020 alone we worked to conserve over 45 million acres of wild places and to reverse the plight of 835 threatened species.
We worked with Indigenous communities to protect their Amazon home, brought Tasmanian Devils back to mainland Australia for the first time in 3,000 years, launched a $42 million rapid response fund with the EU, and rediscovered species lost to science for over 100 years.
But in order to truly rewild the world, we need to go further.
This is why we are building an ecosystem for collaborative action and impact. An ecosystem as diverse, inclusive, and vibrant as the tropical forests, mangroves, and coral reefs that breathe life into our shared home.
Re:wild is our—and your—science-based vehicle to make a difference. With a focus on actions that will build a world in balance with the wild, we are committed to equipping all those yearning to be a part of the solution with the tools they need to make the change.
We believe that together, we can protect and restore those ecosystems critical to the health of our planet—from the Amazon to Australia and from Borneo to our own backyards. We are excited to embark on this journey, because we believe that, together, we can rewild our world.
Re:wild's mission is to protect and restore the wild to build a thriving Earth where all life flourishes.
We significantly expanded our impact in 2020 by growing our portfolio of sites and species, as well as our relationships with conservation partners. Check out Re:wild's 2020 Impact Report.
