The Matthew Harris Ornstein Memorial Foundation (MHOMF) was established in 2015 in honor of Matthew Harris Ornstein, a kind, brilliant, hilarious, individual. He was a national champion debater in high school, graduated from Princeton and then went to Hollywood, where he co-wrote/produced/acted in a very funny TV show based on debate. Then, without warning, three years after his college graduation and subsequent success, he developed a mental illness with which he struggled for the ensuing ten years, before dying a tragic accidental death.
In his honor:
We seek to eliminate suffering and stigma from serious mental illness through furthering education and awareness of patients, family members, providers, law enforcement personnel and legislators.
Furthermore, we strive to enable inner-city Washington, DC middle and high school students to reach their full potential through debate.
