  • About Us

WEKIMüN works on Chiloe Island, Chile, as a school for and with indigenous youth and their communities. We are a collaborative development project, funded by the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Development (DFATD) - ran by the University of PEI and the Williche Council of Chiefs (Chiloe Island, Chile). The big picture is focused on indigenous human rights and sustainable development practices - we do this through education. Ultimately we are a school offering programming to indigenous youth (15 to 44 years old) from particularly isolated and marginalized communities. Anyone from our target communities are able to attend, regardless of education level, and will receive certification in one of our programs
