  • About Us

Bahia Street breaks the cycle of poverty and violence for impoverished girls and young women living in Salvador, Brazil. It is an international partnership that combines grassroots knowledge and dedication with global connections and financial strength. Three of Bahia Street's first students (who came to us nearly illiterate twelve years ago) are now in university.

In Brazil, Bahia Street provides a well-rounded education to seventy girls as a supplement to their attendance at local public schools. In the U.S. and U.K., Bahia Street runs programs that promote greater understanding about international development, race, poverty, and class.
