    Volunteers for Rural India (VRI), is a charity (non-profit) registered in the UK (as charity number 285872). It was formerly known as Indian Volunteers for Community Service (IVCS). The aim of VRI is to raise awareness of rural development in India by enabling people to experience grass roots development through direct involvement.

    VRI also raises funds for its partner organisation in India: the Indian NGO "Society for Agro-Industrial Education in India". This organisation runs a number of sustainable development schemes including schools, a degree college, a clinic, eye treatment camps, self-help groups and health promotion.
