YMCA at Marina Middle School

  • About Us

Since 2003, the YMCA has partnered with the SFUSD to offer diverse and engaging after school and summer programming at Marina Middle School. Marina Middle School students come from all over the city, and our out-of-school-time programming inspires youth to discover a love of learning, create a sense of self, and develop respect for those around them by providing youth with positive, hands-on learning experiences in a safe and supportive environment.

Our summer program, Marina Peace Camp (MPC) strives to foster socially responsible young leaders through community building, skill building, meaningful service learning projects, and academic and enrichment classes like art, cooking, theatre, fashion design, photography, sports, outdoor recreation, and more. MPC staff facilitate meaningful team building and service learning projects, design enrichment activities using youth input, and help youth cultivate a greater understanding of themselves, their city, and the world around them.

Our afterschool program, Marina ExCEL Afterschool, aims to teach youth viable skills using a youth development philosophy in all recreational, academic, and enrichment activities taking place after school. Each day youth receive assistance with their homework, as well as participate in a variety of physical activities and theme-based, hands-on enrichment activities that incorporate reading, science, math, art, music, and more!
