MacDowell

Founded in 1907, MacDowell is the nation's oldest multidisciplinary artist residency programs. MacDowell's mission is to nurture the arts by offering creative individuals of the highest talent an inspiring environment in which they can produce enduring works of the imagination. The sole criterion for acceptance is artistic excellence, which MacDowell defines in a pluralistic and inclusive way. We encourage applications from artists representing the widest possible range of perspectives and demographics, and who are investigating an unlimited array of inquiries and concerns.

Each year MacDowell awards fellowships to over 300 artists from across the country and abroad. These composers, writers, visual artists, architects, interdisciplinary artists and filmmakers travel to Peterborough, New Hampshire to receive uninterrupted time and private studio space for creative work.  MacDowell is a 501c3 non-profit and raises funds from individuals, foundations and corporations to support its mission.
