About Us
Founded in 1982, Alonzo King LINES Ballet is a San Francisco-based contemporary dance company redefining classical ballet through innovative collaborations with musicians from diverse backgrounds and traditions. In collaboration with LINES’ extraordinary dancers, Mr. King has developed a personalized dance language that explores and extends the boundaries of classical dance. He has emerged as one of the pre-eminent dance artists in the U.S., renowned for his unique vision of movement, music and rhythm. LINES Ballet tours both nationally and internationally. In 1989, Mr. King founded the San Francisco Dance Center which offers more than 100 classes per week to more than 2,000 students per month. In 2002, the LINES Ballet School and Pre- Professional Program were founded as part of the organization.
