  • About Us

    The Learning Center of Kathmandu (TLC) was founded in June 2006, to assist poor Nepali villagers who have flocked to Kathmandu to escape the political conflict, or the increasingly harsh economic realities of rural Nepal. It is a registered Education, Research, Consultancy and Vocational Training Institute with the Government of Nepal.

    The mission of TLC is to render service to people of various backgrounds families through educational enhancement programs. As part of The Learning Center of Kathmandu (TLC)'s capacity building agenda with a view to strengthen the capacities of local professionals, so improving their livelihoods and opportunities, TLC endeavors to educate people coming from varied background through language and professional English Language courses.

    When the devastating earthquake of 7.8 Richter struck the country, TLC sent its team to Dukuchhap in Lalitpur and Deurali in Dhading for relief work. During the emergency phase, TLC provided immediate relief items to the most vulnerable households in very remote areas. As of 31st December 2015, TLC has reached over 60,000 individuals, targeting the worst earthquake-affected households.TLC and its local implementing partners have been working in shelter, WASH, livelihoods and food security, early recovery, coordination, and Camp Coordination and Management. TLC’s areas of intervention have included remote areas that do not have access to roads and helicopters are the only option of transporting materials. While there have been obvious logistic challenges, TLC teams have managed to use local resources, such as porters and tractors to transport items, in highly remotes areas of all its Districts of operation.

    Only recently TLC has partnered with Go Green Engineering Pvt. Ltd which specializes in building low cost housing using pre fab and locally available material. TLC will be involved in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the earthquake affected Nepalese in collaboration with Go Green.
