  • About Us

The National Security Network (NSN) was founded in June 2006 to revitalize America's national security policy, bringing cohesion and strategic focus to the progressive national security community.

    Our Vision

NSN is dedicated to developing innovative national security solutions that are both pragmatic and principled. We believe in countering emerging threats by drawing on the best traditions of American foreign policy: a strong and flexible military combined with shrewd diplomacy, the effective use of alliances, and an unwavering commitment to America's basic values.

    What We Do

NSN works with a broad network of experts to identify, develop and communicate progressive national security policy solutions.

    • Policy analysis and development: NSN convenes networks of foreign policy experts to identify, develop, and synthesize the best policy ideas and solutions.
    • Messaging: NSN translates those ideas into effective factual and thematic messages that will resonate with a broad audience.
    • Distribution: NSN distributes its message to elected officials, progressive political candidates, the media, national security experts, community leaders, and non-governmental organizations.
    Who We Are

NSN's 2,000 members and experts represent the emerging generation of foreign policy leaders. With a wealth of experience in government service, the private sector and the non-profit sector, our members and experts combine a sophisticated and nuanced understanding of the challenges facing the United States with a fresh and innovative perspective on foreign policy.
