    Old Salem Museums & Gardens was founded in 1950 for the purpose of preserving, restoring, and interpreting the community of Salem, NC. Today, the museum site has grown to encompass 100 acres of restored and reclaimed landscapes that include 80 buildings, more than 15 tour buildings, 11 nationally acclaimed gardens, and 6 retail stores. Our four unique museums - The Historic Town of Salem, the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts, the Old Salem Toy Museum, and the Gardens of Salem host more than 100,000 visitors annually.
