  • About Us

Double ARC is a 501(c)3 nonprofit founded by the Sisters of Notre Dame in 1992 to address the needs of children in the regular classroom whose behavior and academic challenges put them at risk for failure or suspension. Educators from the Toledo Sisters of Notre Dame saw that some children in their classrooms were having a number of difficulties … restlessness, inattention, defiance, difficulty with a number of subjects, especially math. In researching the problem, they discovered a common connection … prenatal exposure to alcohol known as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD). FASDs last a lifetime. There is no cure for FASDs, but research shows that early intervention treatment services can improve a child’s development. It continues today to serve children with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) through diagnosis, intervention and advocacy.
