    The mission of the School of American Ballet is to train dancers in all ways necessary for professional careers in classical ballet, building upon principles defined by the School's founders -- George Balanchine and Lincoln Kirstein. Further, its mission is to serve as the official academy of New York City Ballet and to maintain its position as the pre-eminent academy of ballet in the United States, annually providing exceptional dancers for companies around the world.
