    About Us- THRIVEGulu is a trauma recovery organization. We support survivors of the atrocities of the 1986-2006 Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) insurgency,as well asrefugees from South Sudan with a mandate to prioritize the unique needs of women and girlssurvivors of violence. We maintain a 70/30 ratio of women to men in all our programs and champion women’s leadership as Senior Managers and on the Boards of Directors. THRIVEGulu believesthat meaningful existence is more than mere survival and that the invisiblewounds ofpsychological trauma deserve healing. THRIVEGulu is a non-sectarian 501(c)3 in the United States and a registered IndigenousNon-Governmental Organization in Uganda(UG). In 2020, THRIVE celebrated “10 Years of THRIVING” –we are in it for the long haul. THRIVE is lookingtowardstothe future with anambitious 5-yearstrategic plan.THRIVE standsapart from other organizations manifest byits holistic, integrated approach to healing the invisible wounds of psychological trauma. Its methodologystands on two interlocking pillars: Mental Health &Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) and Individual & Community Empowerment. Our MHPSS services includeindividual, family,and group counselling;community sensitization/awareness/education;teletherapy;and mobile mental health clinics. These are complemented by empowerment programs, includingvillage savings and loan associations (VSLAs); business education;gender-based violence(GBV)awareness and response; and adult literacy. THRIVEserveswomen andmen, girls andboys, young mothersand fathers,vulnerable and disadvantaged youth, and disabled persons and their caregivers.In 2018, THRIVEGulu expandedits reach to provideMHPSS and GBV services in Palabek Settlement torefugees from South Sudanforcibly displaced intonorthern Uganda.THRIVE currently operates in the 5 Districts of Amuru, Gulu, Lamwo, Nwoya, and Omoro,and the Layibi-Bardege division in Gulu City.From an original vision to builda community of strength, hope,and healing, THRIVEGuluhas grown intoan organization that is recognized internationally as a leader in innovative, holistic psychosocial interventions.
