  • About Us

The New York Taxi Workers Alliance (NYTWA) is a membership-based, grassroots organization of over 6,500 members dedicated to fighting for respect, dignity and economic justice for New York City's 40,000 yellow cab drivers. The NYC taxi industry is a "sweatshop on wheels". Drivers work 12-hour shifts with no health care or safety nets, facing high levels of economic exploitation, racism and xenophobia. Taxi drivers are 60 times more likely to be killed on the job than any other worker. Through organizing and mobilization, NYTWA is building power for taxi workers and changing these long-standing inequities.
