International Center for Conciliation

  • About Us

International Center for Conciliation (ICfC) is a non-profit organization which aspires to create lasting peace in conflicted communities worldwide. ICfC identifies pained memory as the root cause of misunderstanding, antagonism, and violence. Through our innovative approach known as Historical Conciliation, we help divided communities ensnared in ethnic and religious conflict to unfold their painful past and construct a shared future that is peaceful and productive. Local ICfC-trained facilitators empower individuals first to examine their personal and collective pasts with those whom they oppose and then to form new, positive memories with one another during a community-based project. As new relationships form among group members, history becomes less monolithic and diverse perspectives are validated. We have trained people in Historical Conciliation in Israel, Cambodia, India, Japan, Korea, Western Europe, and the United States.
