  • About Us

The Wardrobe (also known as Career Wardrobe) is a nonprofit social enterprise based in Philadelphia that uses clothing and professional development to inspire change. Our services are designed to support people in transition: to employment, adulthood, or independence after trauma, abuse, or incarceration.

Whether someone needs a suit for an interview, clothing to support their transition to independence or adulthood, or to affirm their gender identity, The Wardrobe is here to help. With locations in Philadelphia, Delaware, and Bucks Counties, your donations support your community.

The Wardrobe’s Professional Development Program helps people understand professional norms of the workplace to level the playing field during a job search and employment. The Work It series builds confidence, teaches networking skills, and assists with job search techniques. The Wardrobe Careers Internships teach customer service and retailing skills for those who need a supportive work environment to build both their skills and confidence.

After coming to The Wardrobe, 98% of our participants leave with increased confidence and ability to present a professional image which leads to 91% remaining engaged in their job search, and a 68% employment rate within 6 months. Although 90% of our participants come to us eligible for government assistance programs, 60% are able to transition off cash assistance once working.

The Wardrobe is open to the public with clothing priced to match any budget, and we accept referrals from 100 partner organizations to make shopping free for those that qualify. For more information on donating, shopping to support our mission, hosting an event to benefit our clients, or how we can help someone, follow us @wardrobeorg on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or visit www.careerwardrobe.org
