Sheltering Grace Ministry

  • About Us

Sheltering Grace Ministry (SGM) was established in 2006 with the purpose of being a Maternity Home for expectant mothers in crisis. SGM is a 501(c)(3) and operates 100% on donations. Our housing supplies, food stamps, and events are full of acts of kindness from our community ties. We are partnered with SafeAmerica Foundation, Kennesaw State University, Must Ministries, Cobb Chamber, and Waverly’s Way.

At our residential program, each woman has a safe place to sleep, eat, and care; transportation to medical facilities and grocery stores; and education and job training. Our goal is not only to nurture the incoming baby but the mother as well. We are a Christ-disciplined nonprofit, so the values we extend to the ladies are self-determination, guidance, and grace. A unique quality of Sheltering Grace Ministry is that we serve women starting from 21 years old to 38 years old. The program has three phases.

Phase 1: Womanhood is healing the mind, body, and spirit. Many of these ladies did not have medical care, confidence in their abilities, or a strong relationship with God. We create community links to connect them with doctors, Church leaders, tutoring services, and extracurriculars of their interests.

Phase 2: Motherhood prepares the ladies for their pregnancy and post-pregnancy needs. This involves making doctor's appointments, baby showers, and creating a birth plan. Do the mothers want a natural birth, midwife, epidural, or other considerations? Who are their emergency contacts?

Phase 3. Head of Household prepares the ladies to become independent and resourceful. We offer skill training workshops to teach them how to grocery shop, budget, do yard work, clean, and find utility services (i.e., repairmen, leasing agencies, etc.).

Every woman has a story to share and hidden strength to reveal to the world as they come into their true self, shedding the societal stigma and mental trauma of their pregnancies. Sheltering Grace Ministry is only one part of their life journey that allows the ladies to tap into their God-given greatness. Living out His plan is a pursuit they can then strive to make on their own.
