Literacy for Incarcerated Teens

  • About Us

Literacy for Incarcerated Teens (LIT) is the only non-profit organization of its kind working to end illiteracy and aliteracy among New York City’s incarcerated youth.

LIT is striving to create excellent school libraries in New York City’s juvenile detention centers and also in schools that serve youngsters living in group homes. We are especially concerned about the 96% of these students who read two or more years below grade level.
