  • About Us

Founded in 1989, the Greenbelt Conservancy is a not-for-profit organization governed by a volunteer board of directors. The Conservancy works in partnership with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation to preserve and protect the Greenbelt for public use and enjoyment. The Greenbelt Nature Center, which opened in June 2004, serves as a gateway to the Greenbelt for over 20,000 people annually, offering access to a 35-mile network of hiking trails, a diverse array of events and programs for all age groups, environmental education class trips, and private and organizational events in a natural setting.
