Camp Fire USA, Sunshine Council

  • About Us

Founded in 1910, Camp Fire USA was the first non-sectarian, interracial organization for girls in the United States. Based on commitments to inclusiveness and whole family development, whatever the family’s structure, membership was expanded to include boys in 1975. Locally, the Sunshine Council has been an active and integral part of the greater Lakeland community for over 85 years, providing successful programs for families and children three years old through college. As a United Way agency, Camp Fire is dedicated to the mission of building caring, confident youth and future leaders through co-educational programs that strengthen the individual, the family, and the community.
