    Founded in 1890, The Colonial Dames of America (CDA), a non-profit international lineage society of women members, provides scholarships to institutions for graduate students in American history, supports its thirty-seven chapters in the United States and abroad in their individually chosen educational and historic preservation projects, presents an annual book award focusing on American history, politics or culture and maintains the accredited Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden in New York City.
