  • About Us

We are a special division of the Public Defender Service for D.C. Our staff attorneys represent indigent clients facing involuntary civil and/or criminal commitment to the D.C. Department of Mental Health, as well as insanity acquittees seeking release from their court-ordered commitment. Each semester and summer we utilize a team of intern investigators and social work interns to assist us in providing quality legal representation to the mentally ill.
