Founded in 1969 by local residents and clergy, Southwest Community Enrichment Center (SCEC) is a not-for-profit, community-based human services organization that provides a broad range of services to the residents of the Kingsessing section of Philadelphia. Our philosophy of service emphasizes both the self-worth of each individual and the identification and coordination of community resources to address community issues. Recognizing the importance of community involvement, a majority of SCEC's staff, Board and volunteers are local residents. SCEC's current programs operate out of four row houses in the community to serve adults, families, children and senior citizens.
