  • About Us

Aunt Lute Books is a nonprofit multicultural women’s press in San Francisco. Since 1982, we have published fiction, poetry, and critical essays representing women within the U.S. and across the globe. Aunt Lute Books' mission is grounded in the belief that by publishing voices not represented in mainstream presses, we are both creating and contributing to a constantly evolving dialogue between writers and readers, individuals and communities. Aunt Lute’s titles include works by Paula Gunn Allen, Gloria Anzaldúa, Ginu Kamani, Audre Lorde and Alice Walker. We have also published groundbreaking anthologies of Southeast Asian, Filipina and Filipina American, and Native American women writers.
