    History

    Founded in 1987, the Iyengar Yoga Association of Greater New York (IYAGNY) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit membership organization that carries forward the work of yoga master B.K.S. Iyengar and his lineage. In 1992, driven by the enthusiasm of late Senior Teacher Mary Dunn, the Association opened the first Iyengar Yoga Institute of New York. The Association serves over 150 certified Iyengar Instructors in the three-state region of New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Locally, the Association now runs the Institutes of New York and Brooklyn and has grown to a Faculty of 33 and a full-time administrative team of five with an annual operating budget of $1.7M.
