The Precious Project, a 501(c)(3) is incorporated in the United States and operates in partnership with a Tanzanian registered NGO in the Usa River/ Arusha region. Our mission is to alleviate poverty through education, offering opportinity to vulnerable children, orphans and families in Nshupu, a small village of subsistence farmers. Founded in 2010 as a home for nine AIDS orphans, the project has grown considerably. A new home was built to house fifteen children, a feeding program and preschool was started for seventy five children, a model sustainable organic working farm was established as well as a micro lending support group for local widows and single mothers. Construction of a new primary school is nearing completion and will offer education free of charge to 232 of the neediest children in the area. The project is led on the ground by Tanzanian educators and is supported by American co-founders who spend five months a year on-site in Tanzania.
