  • About Us

The USS Potomac Association is the owner and operator of Franklin D. Roosevelt's historic presidential yacht which is berthed at Jack London Square in Oakland, California. The Potomac is a National Historic Landmark, fully restored, and provides cruises on San Francisco Bay each year for some 1,500 schoolchildren and 3,000 members of the general public. The ship, dubbed by the press during FDR's presidency as the "Floating White House," is a museum to FDR's life and time as president and an historic artifact of the WWII era. More than 75 volunteers help in preservation and public welcoming activities, from history docents for our dockside tours and cruises, greeters in the Visitor's Center, maintenance and preservation of the ship itself, and/or provide assistance in the office or with events.
