Ivymount Organization

The Ivymount Organization is a nonprofit organization that provides trusted educational, therapeutic, and professional services and products that invest in the abilities of neurodivergent children and young adults. We combine passion, skill, and caring to create uniquely tailored services for students, their families, and clients. And we don’t stop there. We invest in staff development, encourage innovation, and share our collective expertise with other professionals and the community. For six decades, this is how Ivymount has been leading the way, enabling the people we serve to live their best, most fulfilling lives.

Our programs include:

• The Ivymount School: A renowned nonpublic special education day school for students with autism and related disorders, kindergarten through age 21.
• The Maddux School: A private general education school with a distinctive social learning curriculum for pre-kindergarten through second grade.
• Ivymount Endeavors Outreach: Intensive programming to support neurodiverse individuals, their families, and the organizations that serve them.
• Community & Outreach Services: Recreation, education, and therapeutic programs for children and young adults. 
• Professional Collaboration & Services: Training and consultation for professionals, school systems and other organizations.

• promoting policies, practices, training, and education that are proactively inclusive, culturally sensitive, and embrace diversity and neurodiversity among the individuals we serve, staff members, and families  
• acting as advocates for diversity within the greater community to create substantive change  
• identifying and discussing our differences and the impacts they have on our stakeholders, approaches, and actions  
• challenging ourselves to identify, understand, and correct inequities we may discover  

Our staff are committed to using culturally responsive and socially conscious practices. Self-examination and self-reflection are essential to our work. Across our organization, we thoughtfully select curricula and structure lessons to ensure students and clients learn from and about diverse perspectives and engage in meaningful exploration of social justice issues, including the concept of neurodiversity and others’ unique strengths and differences. 

Our educational services and supports focus on the varied ways people learn, and we foster our students’ and clients’ independent communication, authentic social and community connections, choice-making, and self-advocacy. We also advocate for the broader community to create situations and opportunities that benefit and remove barriers for all.
