  • About Us

Checkerboard Film Foundation was founded in 1979 to document individuals who have made significant contributions to the American arts for educational and archival purposes. During the past 32 years, the Foundation has produced over 45 films on the visual arts, architecture, literature and design. These profiles represent an important segment of our culture, spanning a half-century of artistic endeavor. Sol LeWitt, Roy Lichtenstein, Brice Marden, Philip Johnson, Harry Callahan, Billy Collins, Ellsworth Kelly and Kiki Smith are just a sampling of the artists we have had the privilege of documenting.
