    The Baltimore Humane Society (BHS) is a private, nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter which also operates a low-cost spay/neuter and pet wellness center, a pet cemetery, and a 343-acre wildlife sanctuary. BHS also offers free humane education programs for children and adults, free pet bereavement counseling through our cemetery office, a pet food bank, and several other innovative and creative programs aimed at helping both animals and people.

    Established in 1927 by Mrs. Elsie Seeger Barton, BHS is located on 365 acres of farmland in Reisterstown, Maryland, in northwest Baltimore County.
