Focused Interruption

Focused Interruption is Madison's only non-profit organization dedicated to implementing effective solutions to end gun violence. Our mission is to interrupt this devastating cycle with the help of our community. We focus on serving the individuals, families, and neighborhoods most deeply impacted by community gun violence. By building trust and facilitating the healing process, we aim to create lasting peace. Our work involves engaging directly with those affected, offering support and resources to help them recover and thrive. Through community partnerships and outreach programs, we strive to empower residents and foster environments where safety and well-being are prioritized. Your support is crucial in helping us make a meaningful difference and transform lives.

In 2016, Focused Interruption was created by a small group of volunteers committed to taking action to end growing gun violence in Dane County. Many of these volunteers were directly impacted by gun violence and the criminal justice system. Under the guidance of Anthony Cooper, Focused Interruption has grown from a group of volunteers to a trusted partner in Madison and across Dane County.

Much more can and should be done. With increased funding, staffing, and programming, Focused Interruption will continue to collaborate with local, state and national organizations to address the growing trend of gun violence in Dane County.
