  • About Us

The Oregon Shores Conservation Coalition advocates for the protection of the natural communities of Oregon's coastal region, from the crest of the Coast Range to the edge of the continental shelf. A secondary purpose, where compatible with the first, is to protect traditional coastal industries (fishing, agriculture, gathering, etc.)--pushing them toward a sustainable path, but defending those who live and work on the coast against pressure turning the region into a playground for the wealthy. In particular, Oregon Shores employs Oregon's land use planning laws in defense of the coast. Through the CoastWatch program, Oregon Shores has organized a network of nearly 1,300 volunteers, each of whom takes stewardship over a mile of the coastline, watching both for natural changes and human impacts and speaking out in defense of that particular place.
