Sanaga-Yong Chimpanzee Rescue is a U.S. nonprofit organization that operates in Cameroon (west-central Africa). SYCR provides sanctuary in a natural forested environment for 76 chimpanzees (adolescents & adults) who became orphaned as a result of the illegal bushmeat trade. Organization goals are to provide for the care & well-being of the resident chimpanzees, and to engage in education and conservation efforts aimed at saving and protecting Cameroon’s last remaining great apes and their forest habitats.
