Founded in 1932, Le Chainon's mission is to welcome, unconditionally and without judgment, women in difficult situations. We offer them safe housing as well as assistance and support tailored to their needs. At Le Chainon, they take specific actions, with the help of experienced counselors, that promote their return to self-determination and personal strength.

At the Chainon, we welcome a person and not a problem. This approach is based on the founding principle of unconditional and non-judgmental acceptance that, for more than 80 years, has distinguished Le Chainon from other housing resources.

Women who come knocking on Le Chainon's door are experiencing personal, social and economic hardships, including:

• Mental and physical health issues
• Addictions
• Behavioural disorders
• After-effects of aggression, violence and physical, sexual and psychological abuse
• Relationship issues
• Special conditions

These women benefit from professional support in an environment that encourages the most egalitarian relationships possible.

Le Chainon also takes a collective and social stance in order to denounce the inequalities, the living conditions and the different forms of violence experienced by women.
