  • About Us

It has been a longstanding tradition of students at the University of Southern Maine (USM) to take part in a week long, chemical-free, community service experience called the Alternative Spring Break Program. All aspects of the program are student driven. Students plan everything from fundraising events to logistics. During spring break in March of 2008, 17 students and a staff member will travel to Slidell, LA to work with the local Habitat for Humanity chapter to help rebuild areas affected by Hurricane Katrina.
