Founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Northwestern Pennsylvania in 2000, the SSJ Neighborhood Network provides leadership, advocates for local residents and partners with the broader community to develop opportunities for both personal growth and neighborhood revitalization.
Serving an area within the City of Erie, Pennsylvania, with more than 14,000 residents, our programs provide hope within historically disinvested and under-resourced neighborhooods.
SSJ Neighborhood Network provides a comprehensive response to neighborhood need following these 5 goals and priorities, with one-on-one, neighbor engagement being the thread woven throughout:
1. Physical Image: Improve the physical image and engage residents in creating a positive sense of their neighborhood.
2. Crime Prevention and Safety: Model and implement community-based safety strategies to build security for residents and businesses.
3. Economic Development: Stabilize and revitalize through business engagement and investment along with workforce education and development.
4. Affordable Housing: Create and support affordable housing to increase neighborhood stability, self-sufficiency, and economic mobility.
5. Neighborhood Conservation and Community Engagement: Enhance quality of life and grow opportunities for neighborhood residents and businesses to create community.
