  • About Us

Winchester ABC (www.winchesterabc.org) is a chapter of A Better Chance, Inc., (www.abetterchance.org) a national nonprofit organization founded in 1963 to provide academically talented students of color with expanded educational and career opportunities.

In 1971, Winchester ABC, a program serving male high-school age students, welcomed its first students. Since then, more than 90 scholars have graduated from Winchester High School. Most have gone on to receive higher degrees.

The scholars live together in a Winchester residence within walking distance of Winchester High School. A Resident Director and his family live in the house as well, along with a Resident Academic Coordinator who communicates with WHS and oversees the science, math and English tutors.
