  • About Us

Karma Rescue's mission is to end economic euthanasia of pets and prevent shelter-overcrowding by providing life-saving aid to low income families and free spay neuter services to under-served communities throughout Los Angeles.

Economic euthanasia, or the decision to euthanize rather than treat, is a harsh reality for more than 500,000 pets and their families every year. Imagine the grief and guilt families experience when putting a sick or injured pet to sleep -- not because the condition isn’t treatable -- but because treatment isn’t affordable. The majority of these pets are wanted and loved, but their families are simply out of options. Even if euthanasia isn’t decided on, these pets too often end up in shelters further burdening an already over-saturated shelter system.

Due to growing financial insecurities across American families, economic euthanasia of pets is on the rise nationally. Los Angeles is not immune to this epidemic. More than one million families in L.A. own a dog and over 64% live in low-income households and are stretched financially. They have the least amount of resources to pay for unforeseen medical expenses for their beloved pets.

    That’s why Karma Rescue exists!

Our goal is to dramatically reduce economic euthanasia and lower the over-crowded shelter populations by:

    • Providing financial assistance to families and their pets during a time of life-threatening crises.
    • Offering free spay neuter services to families within targeted, low-income, geographic areas of the county. In a year, one female dog and her offspring can produce over 11,000 dogs who would need care or else end up in the shelter or homeless.

Volunteers are at the heart of Karma Rescue. We would love to get to know you and learn how we can be part of your volunteering. Please get in touch!
