  • About Us

The Philosophical Research Society is a Los Angeles-based, nonprofit institution founded in 1934 by scholar and prolific author Manly Palmer Hall as a repository of multicultural wisdom sources and a center of learning. With a campus designed by architect Robert Stacy-Judd and later designated a historical-cultural site by the city of Los Angeles, PRS is “dedicated to the ensoulment of all arts, sciences, and crafts.”

    VISION

As a nonprofit, on-campus, and online institution dedicated to the pursuit of wisdom, our vision is a community of seekers who are continually discovering, applying, cultivating, and rediscovering practical and profound wisdom in the 21st century.

    MISSION

Our mission is to offer practical and profound wisdom for the twenty-first century for all who seek it with compassion and in community.

    VALUES

    -Inclusiveness

PRS looks to include wisdom from its every source and to make it accessible to all who value it.

    -Objectivity

PRS transcends any particular tradition, philosophy or personality.

    -Freedom

PRS supports free and open inquiry into ways of knowing and being that are at the same time open to critique and dialogue.

    -Community

PRS aims to foster an educational community characterized by stimulating and good-faith interaction.
