  • About Us

The ACCESS Agency is a non-profit Community Action Agency (CAA). It is our mission to deliver comprehensive, integrated human services in partnership with individuals, families, and communities.

ACCESS has been working with the low income population of Eastern Connecticut since 1965. We take a comprehensive, holistic approach to looking at the poverty related issues of the individuals and participants' families and then develop individual plans to help our clients overcome the challenges they are facing.

"One-on-One" Mentoring is a Program funded by the Department of Children and Families to recruit volunteers who can commit their time to be a friend and positive role model to DCF youth ages' 14-23. This Program was created to address the wishes of many young people in DCF care who want "a person who is not paid to care or spend time with me, but who wants to be with me because of who I am!" Volunteers provide support, friendship and advice to help adolescents learn to make better choices and to have positive relationships with adults. They can offer assistance with homework, help explore vocational opportunities, act as a resource and offer a shoulder to lean on to help young adults deal with issues in their lives. The "One-on-One" Mentoring Program takes great care in matching similar Mentor/Mentee interests, and it also offers training, activities and ongoing support for Mentors to help them form nurturing and supportive relationships with their Mentees.
