  • About Us

For over 50 years, World Forestry Center has adapted to the changing needs of forests and our community. Our mission – to create and inspire champions of sustainable forestry – has remained consistent. But our methods and programs have evolved with the changing social, economic, and ecological landscapes.

Today, we are positioned to bring people together in discovery, inspiration, and empowerment to change the trajectory of the fate of our forests, our climate, and our communities. Our programs are designed to shape a society that values and takes action in support of the economic, ecological, and social benefits of forests. Our focus is not on forests alone but rather on how people think, act, and relate to them.

We are working on calibrating all of our programs and exhibits to inspire the broad social action needed to drive home sustainable forestry solutions at a meaningful scale. We aim to change how society understands and interacts with our forests. This work will require engagement and trust, built through in-person programs and immersive, emotionally compelling exhibits that move the public from understanding to action.

We envision a future in which the public views forest health as central to their well-being and acts accordingly—politically, economically, and culturally. When we succeed, the long-term needs of our forests will be fully and sustainably supported by policy and the marketplace because there will be the overwhelming public will to make it happen.
