About Us
The Hawaiʻi Alliance for Progressive Action (“HAPA”) is a Hawaiʻi statewide nonprofit, whose mission is to catalyze community empowerment and systemic change towards valuing ‘āina (environment or “that which feeds us”) and people ahead of corporate profits.
HAPA implements our mission in Hawai`i through four campaign areas: (1) Reclaiming Democracy; (2) Economic Justice; (3) Community-Based Resource Stewardship/Native Hawaiian Organizing; and (4) Fair & Sustainable Food Systems. HAPA works to address the interconnected root causes of inequity in Hawai`i, linking Hawai`i’s serious environmental issues with economic, cultural and social justice. We do this through a combination of community organizing, coalition-building, advocacy and educational initiatives.
