Sonshine Centre Goals and Objectives

·        To provide safe, affordable second stage shelter living accommodations for women and their children who have experienced domestic violence and abuse.

.         To empower our families by encouraging program in the following areas: finding safe and affordable housing, aiding in the therapeutic process of healing and engaging in employment and education initiatives.

·        To assist these women and children in achieving an increased level of interdependence and a feeling of self-worth, dignity and confidence.

·        To provide families with affordable, supportive counselling to help them work through issues such as depression, stress, grief, anxiety, communication difficulties, low self-esteem and anger.

·        To connect these women to resources in supporting themselves independently from their abusers, including quality childcare support to assist them through their transition period.

·    To heighten awareness of the issues surrounding abuse in the community at large and to mobilize the community for action.

·    To equip the communities around us to support families, couples and individuals at risk as a preventative measure.

·     To be recognized as an organization that provides a comprehensive, collaborative, seamless response to individuals, couples and families in need of support.
