Cherish Our Children Inc.

  • About Us

COCI is a 27-year-old Houston-based nonprofit focusing on children of incarcerated parents. The more than 5-million American children who have experienced the trauma of losing a parent to the criminal justice system are at high risk of experiencing mental and physical health issues, dropping out of school and continuing a cycle of intergenerational incarceration. COCI believes that, through intervention, these students can break that cycle and live happy, productive lives. COCI has been a long-time supporter of the No More Victims program, which works with high school students of incarcerated parents in Houston. Through its GEMS program, COCI will now extend support for the needs of students into the middle schools, which is one of the most challenging periods of an at-risk child’s life.
