  • About Us

    Volunteers Colombia (www.volunteerscolombia.org) is a non-profit organization, established in 2009, that promotes the development of English as a second language in the Colombia's educational institutions benefitting vulnerable populations. In the last six years, in partnership with organizations in the public and private sectors, we have brought more than 600 volunteers from English-speaking countries as assistant professors for public schools and universities in Cartagena, Barranquilla, Quibdó, Monteria, Manizales, Bogota, Cali, Leticia, Medellin and other cities.

    In the second half of 2013 we began a pilot program with SENA, Colombia's largest public institution aimed at creating vocational training and labor opportunities for students who would not normally have the prospects of attaining higher education. In 2015, VC brought 250 volunteer teachers to Colombia to work in ten cities. In 2016, VC will bring start a new partnership with the Colombian Ministry of Education with the aim of bringing 600 Volunteer English Teachers to Colombia. To date, this will be one of the biggest endeavors in Colombian history to bring volunteers and push the national platform of making Colombia a bilingual state by 2020.
