  • About Us

SCAN of Northern Virginia was founded in 1988 to promote the well-being of children, improve parent-child relations and prevent child abuse and neglect through education, public awareness and advocacy. SCAN is the only Northern Virginia organization dedicated exclusively to education and advocacy for child abuse prevention throughout the Northern Virginia region. SCAN builds hope for children and families by implementing effective, evidence-based prevention programs. SCAN advocates for vulnerable children who have been abused or neglected through its Alexandria/Arlington Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Program; strengthens families through Parent Education efforts; and educates community members via Public Education efforts throughout Northern Virginia.
