Susanna Wesley House

  • About Us

The Mission of the Susanna Wesley House is to provide a safe, clean home, assist women in need and their

dependent children, and ensure there is a viable program for the residents to obtain independent living.

    Organizational Background

Founded in 1919, the Susanna Wesley House has been serving women in Baltimore for over 102 years after Methodist missionaries opened our doors on June 9, 1919, as a haven for women who moved from rural communities to Baltimore city to look for work or to get an education. To date, Susanna Wesley House has assisted thousands of women and their families in moving to independent living. Our Supportive Housing Program provides seamlessly integrated, comprehensive onsite services that help residents restore and rebuild their lives while managing their housing crises. Case management, family reunification services, employment, housing search assistance, parenting classes, financial literacy assistance, and computer training are offered. Services for their children include afterschool and out-of-school academic and recreational activities, computer lab access, and mentoring. Our families receive everything they need to walk out their doors ready for independent living as a whole family. We work with them to establish transformation that leads to independence and follow-up services after leaving the program.
