State Democracy Project

Washington, DC

  • About Us

The State Democracy Project -- a coalition representing the Center for Popular Democracy, Demos, End Citizens United, MoveOn.org, NAACP, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, and Working Families Organization -- has come together to chart a new course in response to threats to democracy. We have a common vision of vastly increasing (1) participation in elections and policy-making, (2) responsiveness of governmental institutions to the needs of all our people, and (3) the power of organized people to improve their lives and communities. We recognize that this vision requires that we build the necessary campaigns to win urgent public policy and do so in a way that supports the capacity of state organizations too often used instrumentally during elections.
