  • About Us

S.T.O.P. - Safe Tables Our Priority Inc. is a national, nonprofit, public health organization dedicated to preventing illness and death from foodborne pathogens, and the only national organization supporting victims of foodborne disease.

S.T.O.P. was founded in the aftermath of the 1993 Jack in the Box E. coli Outbreak that sickened over seven-hundred, and killed at least four children. Since then, S.T.O.P. has worked diligently to improve the safety of our food supply and, in the process, has become "America's Voice for Safe Food"- a responsibility we take very seriously. S.T.O.P. achieves its mission by advocating changes in public policy, educating and doing outreach, providing victim assistance, and in 2008 formalized a "victims of foodborne illness" registry in order to study the long-term consequences of foodborne disease.
